City happenings

Life is returning back to normal since the hurricane hit a week and a half ago. We can get gas without waiting in long lines and the grocery store has ice cream in stock again! A lot of the city is still without power, which blows my mind, but everyone is trying to work though it. All along the highway near our house, there are restaurants without power, but most of them are using generators. We tried out Taco Cabana and it was actually the worst experience we had ever had there, but we tried to keep in mind it is probably not easy to work with a generator. The last weekend was spent cleaning up trees and brush. Fortunately we did not have too much work to do. The girls and I have not had school in 2 weeks. The power was finally turned on at the church/school, but I got a text saying school would start on Thursday, not Tuesday. It is weird to think I have only actually worked 3 days since the school year started. Galveston residents are being allowed back on the island starting tomorrow. I think traffic is going to be messy for a while. Our cool weather from the hurricane has left. It is back in the high 80s this week. That is about all of the updates I can think of.
