For Stephen (and of course all of my other faithful blog followers who have noticed the absence of updates)
I know it has been a while since the last update and I am really sorry about that. I have been having a horrible first trimester with a lack of motivation to do anything. I was really looking forward to spending the summer outdoors with the girls, doing swim lessons for the girls, going to the zoo, going to San Antonio, getting to know Houston better. Unfortunately when I feel like throwing up for 95% of the day, it prevents me from wanting to leave the couch. I have found a couple of things that have helped me with my nausea but after having them come back up, I haven't wanted to try them again. Right now I am at 8.5 weeks along in my pregnancy. I have already had my first doctor's appointment and everything checked out great. I am scheduled to go back to the doctor on the 1st of July to get an ultrasound done to determine the size of the baby and based on that, the doctor will give me a due date. Dave has been such a tremendous help to me and I can't imagine what I would do without him. He has helped with cooking, washing dishes, cleaning the house, taking the girls out of the house, going and getting me anything I need to make me feel better, and probably the best thing he does for me is every time I am throwing up, he runs to my side to hold my hair back or rub my back. I don't know a lot of people who would do that. He is truly an amazing husband. As for work, Dave is advancing through his program and he is now in inside sales. He will be moving into outside sales at the beginning of August and that should be the last part in his training program. He has inventory coming up next weekend, but because of all of his hard work over the last year with the store, it shouldn't be too stressful of a time. When Dave isn't working or taking care of me and the girls, he has been studying to take the GRE. He bought two books with tons of practice exercises and he has been doing really well. His first plan was to take the GRE sometime in the fall but since he has been doing good, he may take it sooner than that.
And now for the dynamic duo you have been waiting for, here is what Emily and Ally have been up to. They have been playing together a lot lately without fighting. We went through a stage were Ally was constantly hitting Emily and it was really frustrating. They couldn't play together at all without fighting. Emily has this problem were she collects her favorite toys and holds onto them for dear life. Throughout the day she ends up with 20 toys in her arms and when I am walking around I notice even more toys up high in places Ally can't reach. We have limited Emily to no more than 2 toys at a time and it seems to be working great. Ally has less reason to hit Emily when she doesn't have all of the good toys in her grasp. (Funny side note: Emily's first solution to our new rule was finding two buckets and filling them with the toys. She would cry that she only had two things but I made her empty the buckets and count everything she had and she understood it was way more than two.)
Emily is about to turn 4 and I am truly stunned! She has such an amazing personality and not a day goes by were she doesn't think of a way to try and make us laugh. She loves talking (surprise, surprise!) and making new friends. When she is talking about things in the past, she refers to it as yesterday, and when she is talking about the future, it is tomorrow. She doesn't grasp the concept of weeks or months, but she loves to know what is going to happen in the future, tomorrow. Everyday she asks the question, "What day is it when the sun comes up?" I am trying to teach her how to figure it out on her own, but no luck yet. I really wanted to start on homeschooling her this summer, but I think I am going to have to wait until I am feeling better. Emily went to the doctor on Tuesday to make sure she has been doing ok since her last asthma attack. She hasn't showed any signs of being sick or out of breath in 6 weeks, so we are really thankful for that.
Ally will be turning 2 and all I can say is that time goes so fast! Over the last several weeks, Ally's language has exploded. It's as if something clicked in her brain and now she wants to know what everything is. Her favorite words right now are "Look!" and "Why?". She has gotten really good at "Sorry" as well. The other day I sneezed and she said "Bless you". I didn't even know she was paying attention to that. She is growing and learning everyday. I have noticed that she is not a typical little sister. I would not label her as a follower but more as a watcher and even sometimes a leader. She watches what Emily does and if it succeeds, she will give it a try. If Emily is unsuccessful, Ally may still give it a try in hopes of passing up her big sister. I would also say Ally is fearless. Some of her favorite games include jumping off the couch, standing up on the table, jumping on her bed, and going exploring in places she shouldn't.
Dave and I love being parents and we can't wait to add on to our family. We love spending time with the girls and watching them grow and learn.
