Birthday month!

Well, we survived our first major tropical storm here in Houston. We were not really concerned about the storm causing us any damage because they were not evacuating Galveston, where the storm came ashore. I had a moment of panic when I saw a lady being interviewed on the news in front of HEB. She said last year during a hurricane, she went a week without power, and she lives in Conroe which is about 25 miles north of us. Still, we didn't run out and purchase tons of extra food. I thought it was interesting that they canceled a lot of the schools in the area for the day. Tropical Storm Eduard turned out not to be too bad but he did bring tons of rain. Last night Dave and I were watching the news and they showed clips of Galveston were the sun was shining and people were running around playing on the beach. It didn't look like a storm had hit at all.
This past weekend, the girls and I headed off to San Antonio. Dave was going to be working all weekend, so we thought it would be a good idea to go see my family. We had a ton of fun hanging out with my parents and a couple of my siblings. I even got to sneak away one night to go out with my youngest sister. A highlight of the trip was when my mom found a Little Tykes coupe at a garage sale. They wanted $40 for it but it was 11 am when we got there (which is late for going garage saling) and my mom was able to talk them down to $20. Emily and Ally loved the car. Whenever we were home, both of them were always in the car. I think Dave and I know what we are going to be getting Emily for her b-day!
Speaking of b-days, this month is a busy month for us. Ally's birthday is coming up on the 20th. I cannot believe she is already a year old! Another exciting moment for us is that we are finally official Texas residents. We have now been back in Texas for a year! The 21st is Dave and my 4 year anniversary. The 23rd will be Emily and Ally's b-day party and then Emily's birthday is the 31st.
Here are some pictures of the last couple of weeks.
One morning I went in to get the girls up and Ally was knocked out. She did not wake up when Emily was yelling with excitement at being out of bed or when I left the door open and made Emily breakfast. I eventually had to go in and wake her up. That never happens!

The car!

The reason there are not any pictures of Emily in the car is because she refuses to take a good picture for me.

Looks like I need to send you our annoying, I mean, wonderful Wiggles CD of "Toot, Toot, Chugga, Chugga Big Red Car!" Glad to hear that you survived the tropical storm!
